gaff cutter HANNE MUNK
HANNE MUNK
The HANNE MUNK is a traditional boat, beginning its journey as a fishing vessel in 1920. A single mast carrying
a gaffel-rigged mainsail and two jibs, a 38 hp Diesel engine giving it that sometimes necessary extra push in
doldrums or in the harbor.
It was built in Denmark mainly from larch on oak. In the years 2010 to 2013, a complete structural restoration
of the hull took place with the renewal of the entire on-board appliances such as engine and shaft system as
well as the electrics, the fuel, sanitary and water systems. HANNE MUNK is best sailed with a partner. The peak
and throat halyards can be operated alone, with some practice but a team of three is ideal. The enclosed shanty
and the gentle movement convey a great feeling of safety and smooth sailing, even in strong winds and heavy
seas.
